FetchвЂ™s story unfolds throughout roughly 3 вЂ“ 5 hours of missions and is told through in-game and motion comic story scenes, complete with voiceovers. A good chunk of the gameвЂ™s virtual representation of Seattle exists, although the layout seems slightly different in places. Needless to say, there are no puppies and rainbows when the credits roll.ДЇirst Light plays like a subset of inFamous Second Son. First Light explores AbigailвЂ™s dark past and allows her to come to terms with her neon light powers and not-so-bright situation.

Fetch, along with her brother Brent, was homeless, drug addicted, involved with all the wrong people, constantly on the run, and to make things extra complicated, struggling to control her new found conduit powers. If you remember the characterвЂ™s plot points in Second Son, you would recall that she has seen, and been through, a lot of shit. Either way, unlike Second Son, there is no karma system or moral choices to be made in First Light. FetchвЂ™s story, which mostly takes place before the events in Second Son, still makes sense by itself. InFamous First Light can be described as side story DLC or a prequel expansion for inFamous Second Son, and even though itвЂ™s highly recommended that you play the original game first, itвЂ™s not a requirement.

inFamous First Light (which is a standalone PS4 release that does not require a copy of Second Son) delves deeper into one of that gameвЂ™s more interesting supporting characters - Abigail вЂњFetchвЂќ Walker, and helps to further flesh out the inFamous universe. Delsin was initially dismissed as a smug, cocky jerk, but once players understood some of the reasoning behind his actions, his attitude and worldview sorta made sense. I canвЂ™t wait to see your personal touch on First Light, as Fetch was definitely my favorite character.InFamous Second Son ( our review here) was not only an enjoyable super power-infused action adventure game, it also told an interesting, and sometimes surprisingly dark, story. Of course, your studio has innovated in much more impressive fields than simply alpha blending, and IвЂ™m more excited than ever for the future of Sucker Punch. I imagine you may be using some sort of order-independent transparency or some other clever system you may not be willing to share, but IвЂ™d love to learn anything you have to say about it.

I mean, I know there are plenty of shaders for stuff like bending light around explosions and all that beautiful stuff, but in photo mode I never once noticed any semi-transparent detail being omitted due to alphas meeting each other with unfortunate polygon intersections. Wow, a standalone game, a la Festival of Blood? Fantastic.ДЄs a realtime 3D artist, and I know this question may sound boring to most readers, but what do you do about alpha blending in the rendering pipeline for inFamous Second Son? Is the PS4 powerful enough to do per-pixel alpha blending, or is there some sort of alpha sorting going on?
